Student Parking

Any vehicle on parked on campus must either have a parking permit or be parked in visitor parking ramps.

To qualify for a parking permit, you must have a valid St. �� identification card and must be engaging in St. �� related business or events.

Purchasing a permit does not guarantee a parking space and a lack of parking is not a valid excuse to violate parking policies. There are multiple parking options across campus, along with the Anderson Parking Facility. If a space is not available closest to where you need to be, make sure to check the other available lots.

Parking enforcement is managed through license plate recognition; St. �� no longer uses hang tags. It is critical that permit holders have an accurate license plate number connected to their parking permit. Visit the to verify that your license plate information is up to date.

Parking Policies

Resident Student Parking

Resident Parking Permit - $604/year

Resident parking permits are awarded through a lottery. All resident students are eligible to enter the lottery. Preference is given to seniors, juniors, and then sophomores. Due to the amount of parking space on campus, first year students are not eligible for a parking permit without a medical or military exception.

Resident Student Parking Permit Lottery

Resident student parking permits are awarded through a lottery. The resident student permit lottery for the 2025-2026 academic year will open Wednesday, June 4. The deadline for entering the resident permit lottery is Sunday, June 22.

To enter the lottery, log into the using your St. �� network login.

At the bottom of the page, right side, click on "Add/Edit Waitlists."
Read the information on the next page. Click "Next."
You will see any available lotteries/waitlists for which you are eligible. Click "Add."
For resident permit lotteries, there is only one waitlist available and should correspond to your class (senior/grad, junior, sophomore) for the fall of 2025.
Click "Done" on the next page. You'll see a receipt listing the waitlist you've added.

Lottery results will be emailed after 3:00 pm by Thursday, July 3.

Students enter the lottery via the and will be notified of the lottery results by email.
Students who are awarded a resident parking permit will have a designated period in which to purchase their permit (respond to their resident parking permit award email)
Failure to respond (purchase the permit) within the communicated deadline in the offer letter will forfeit the resident student parking permit.

Note: Incoming first-year students are unfortunately not eligible for the resident permit lottery due to limited resident permits available, unless they have a medical or military exception and should contact parking@stthomas.edu. Any other incoming first-years should contact parking@stthomas.edu as well if they have questions.

Commuter Student Parking

The University of St. �� provides multiple parking options for commuter students, on both the St. Paul and Minneapolis campuses.

St. Paul Campus

St. Paul Commuter Permit--$250/year or $136/semester--valid from 5 a.m. to 2 a.m. in all yellow and red parking lots (lots A, B, D, G, I, K, L), the Anderson Parking Facility (APF), and designated area in Morrison R2.

J-term commuter parking permits are available for $38.

St. Paul Evening Permit--$163/year or $84/semester--valid from 4 p.m. to 2 a.m. in all yellow and red parking lots (lots A, B, D, G, I, K, L), the Anderson Parking Facility (APF), and designated area in Morrison R2.

A daily option is available through the for $13. The daily option cannot be purchased at pay stations, only through the Parking Portal. The daily option is only valid in the Anderson Parking Facility (APF) and is not valid for overnight parking.

Minneapolis Campus

Minneapolis Commuter Permit--$495/year or $250/semester. Summer permits $158.

Only students who are registered for 12 or more undergraduate credit hours, or 6 graduate credit hours for classes in Minneapolis, and who are on campus between the hours of 7 a.m. and 4 p.m., will be permitted to purchase a parking permit for the Minneapolis parking ramp. Eligibility for full time permits is at the discretion of the Public Safety Department.

Minneapolis Commuter Permits are also valid in all St. Paul campus commuter parking lots and ramps.

Purchasing a Student Parking Permit

All students must purchase their permit through the . All student permits are paid for by a charge to a student account. Purchasing instructions:

Login using your St �� email address and network password. Make sure to select "St. �� Login".
Click "Get Permit" in the lower right hand corner.
Read the instructions on the following page and click "Next".
Select the permit you wish to purchase.
Agree to the policy statements.
Click "Next".
Either select a vehicle already on your record or click "Add Vehicle" to add a new vehicle. Make sure any vehicle you will drive to campus is in the system and attached to your parking permit.
If not adding a new vehicle, skip to step 10.
To add a vehicle, enter and confirm the vehicle license plate number. An inaccurate license plate number could lead to a parking citation.
Complete the remainder of the vehicle information. Click "Next".
Click "Next".
You will be taken to the payment page. Your method of payment will be automatically selected as "Student Account" for students.
Click "Pay Now".
